EDIT: Im buying the Eclipse ;D (Sorry this is on homepage, And this is offtopic, But i never get personal threads up xD) Well, I am too broke to be driving a Range Rover. So i am going to sell it, and get a new car. Range rovers are bad on gas, they are really nice however they really aren't for me. So i am stuck between two cars i have wanted for a really long time. 1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse (Manual) , Aftermarket Radio/iPod connections/ Remote starting / GS Turbo Rebuilt engine OR 1994 Lexus SC400 (Automatic) , Stock engine, Leather interior buff.
I drove the Mitsubishi once it handheld greatly and it's full efficient <- a good car I can say the same for the Lexus (didn't drive it yet) but I haw never heard anything good about it :/ I'm still driving the Fiesta although I would kill for a Mercedes E 220 (best care they ever made) PS: if it was up to me I'd take the Mitsubishi
I googled each and skimmed through some reviews for each of them. I'd say do a lot of research on each of them, of course, but make sure you do a lot of research on the 1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse. Within a couple minutes I saw reviews of multiple car problems associated with the type of car, and that it was decently high-maintenance. Sounds a lot like my car. I love it, but it's the most annoying thing ever when something's wrong with it, which happens relatively frequently. The Lexus looked pretty cool too though.
You do realize these cars are like 15 Years old, Who wouldn't expect problems. However the Eclipse has rebuilt engine, and quite a few nice features. Lexus is more high quality then range rover lol (I dont think the inside is better >.>) Of course i will do research on any car i want, I didn't just randomly decide i want these two cars.
Of course I realize that. Mine's 14 years old. Almost 200,000 miles on it. Engine problems are a given. I'm just saying, know what you're getting into before you get it, don't be me. There's old car engine problems, and then there's just problems that cars shouldn't have. I expected the engine problems with my car, but not that the back seat would flood with a 4 inch pool of water during a heavy rainstorm before I fixed that problem... Later researched the car and found out that pretty much all those cars had that problem because Chrysler sucked at designing a quality roof... Just check for stuff like that. Before I saw the potential bad reviews with the Eclipse, I was going to undoubtedly say go with that one. It's got some nice-sounding upgrades, which is of course a plus with older cars.
Get the Mitshubishi Chase. It's gonna last longer and it doesn't consume as much as the other. Also MANUAL > > > > AUTOMATIC (gearbox duh)
meh personally if i ever get me hands on some cash i'm gonna nab me a 1975 or 79 Chevy El-Camino mweeheheehhe But yes i agree the Mitsubishi is a good car. Lexus to my knowledge are a yes high quality car but it lacks the appeal of the lower end cars have with me.
Seems the only real problems people were complaining about were the engine of the Mitshubishi... And if the one you're looking at has a rebuilt engine, I'm guessing it shouldn't be a huge problem. Good luck anyways, though. Skimming through reviews of it being high-maintenance and having a lot of problems brought back bad, traumatic memories though, lol.
i think this is a nobrainer XD mitsubishi over lexus cos its a good car, manual/stick shift always better than auto
There is a 1997 eclipse down the road from me, completely redone only 2300$ to bad i wont have that money till tax time.
The Fast and the Chasez. Coming to a theater near you Fall 2012. EDIT: I like how I didn't even notice it said "Fast and the Furious" in the background....
You my fine sir are an idiot. There is nothing girly about the 1997 Manual Eclipse. These cars last forever mate. No such thing as a bad eclipse, Just a bad owner who took bad care of it.
